1.  The Confederation of Builders was established to assist the general public against unworthy, unscrupulous builders. The CoB has since moved on promoting ethical values amongst its members and installing high levels of confidence amongst the general public.

2.  Membership is available to all contractors who are able to meet its criteria. A strict vetting procedure is a mandatory requirement of membership.

3.  All members must show evidence of Liability Insurance before joining. Continuing checks are regularly carried out.

4.  Complaints against members will be thoroughly investigated. If upheld it may lead to termination of membership. The CoB reserves this right.

5.  All members of the Confederation of Builders shall subscribe to this Code of Practice which has established certain standards for high levels of work ability and conduct. The aim is to increase the status of  Builders and to improve their trade relationships with clients from all sectors.

6.  Members shall submit written quotations for work on bone-fide company stationery. The quotation will clearly lay out the nature of the work to be undertaken and the cost of the contract. If contracts are of such a length that the contractor requires stage payments, then this shall be clearly illustrated.

7.  Members should arrange, and at all times maintain adequate Liability Insurance and should produce this on demand should clients ask.

8.  Members should always offer, when appropriate, the 10 year insurance backed guarantee scheme to potential clients. This offers the client further rights and protection.

9.  Members of the Confederation should endeavour at all times to uphold and maintain diligence and high standards in their conduct towards customers. Work must be carried out in accordance with good practice and recognised standards.
